This was the Wisport Cascade Classic in 2005. It was overcast with wet roads and some fast tight turns. Sometime after this photo was taken, I found myself near the lead along with Feely and Bjorn. With a few miles to go and approaching a downhill turn, Bjorn decides to hammer to the front and mildy force me to adjust my cycling. He started to slide out, forcing with no other option other than to ride into the nearby pond shattering my front carbon wheel and I nearly died drowning.

But the bike itself was intact. A 5900 White/carbon madone. A very light American Classics wheelset. Phonak gloves. Non-matching Trek helmet. DNF
The bearded guy beside me, used the old Dutch braking technique of bi-lateral hand positions, for maximum strength.
It was a little surreal. As I came out, there was a pickup truck and some local guy wondering what I was doing in the swamp. I had a broken front wheel in one hand and my bike in the other, and I said, 'Can I get a lift into town?'
